There are many reasons as to why your makeup might look cakey. Sometimes it’s due to over powder, or over liquid foundations. Some even say that this is a result of not applying the right amount of foundation. However, there are times when you really need an extra layer of blush or concealer to hide blemishes or areas where the foundation didn’t cover.
If you find that your foundation seems to cake up on your face, there are several tips and tricks that you can use to get rid of this issue. Here they are:
One: if you have powder-free foundations, try to add a little bit of it to your facial cream or milk. It should help to thicken up your foundation. When you apply the powder to your face, it will mix with your skin and give it a little bit of color. This helps to make your foundation less care, and much more creamy, thus making it appear much more natural.
Two: if you have powder-free foundations and still notice that it looks cakey on your face, then you may want to try to buffer your powder. This can be done by simply putting a few drops of powder on the tip of your finger and buffering it until it blends in with your face. You should see an improvement in how your foundation looks. However, it may take several tries of doing this to get the effect you want.
Three: If your powder free foundation doesn’t seem to have the desired effect you’re after, and you still want to wear a creamy look, then you can add a little bit of milk based make up to your foundation. While this may seem a little tricky, but applying a small amount of liquid foundation to your face while you’re still waiting for your powder to melt will make it easier for you to blend into your skin. Simply wet your face, take a cotton swab and dip it into your make up, and then blend the foundation into your skin using the back of the swab. Make sure you keep blending. Once you reach your desired look, you can then finish it off with concealer.
Four: If after applying all of this foundation of your face still has that cakey texture, then you need to add some moisturizers. This is something that most people don’t think to do when they’re trying to create a smooth, even canvas for their makeup. You can purchase a small bottle of mineral makeup at your local drugstore or even a department store that sells makeup. Simply run a small brush through your face with a small amount of the mineral foundation, which will help to even it out.
These are just four of the many questions I get asked on a daily basis. The answers to the question of “why does my makeup look cakey?” are simple – but not necessarily easy. If you have time, purchase a makeup artist compact from your local drugstore. A makeup artist’s compact is the easiest answer to “why does my makeup look cakey?”
